CCEC Responding to TS Michael Outages
At 7 p.m. Thursday, the cooperative had about 6,500 outages as Tropical Storm Michael pushed through the area, but crews have been working to restore power throughout the storm. “As expected, the storm has toppled weakened trees and dangling limbs left in the wake of Hurricane Florence in mid-September,” said CCEC Communications Director Lisa Galizia. “We encourage people to stay inside until the storm passes. Better yet, wait until daybreak to avoid any downed power lines.”
The cooperative has substation and meter monitoring systems that indicates when and where outages occur. Before calling to report an outage, the coop encourages members to check its outage map. While extra personnel are on hand to answer phones, the call volume is extremely high.
